Terme San Filippo

Hotel  ·  Thermal Pool  ·  Wellness Centre

The Terme San Filippo spa is closed for restoration — the Fosso Bianco remains open and free all year round, as ever.

A major redevelopment is under way, entrusted to the architect Massimiliano Fuksas, which will bring new thermal pools, a spa & wellness suite and a restaurant with a panoramic terrace. A reopening date has not yet been confirmed. For enquiries: temporarytermesfilippo@gmail.com

The spa

The Baths of San Filippo

Terme San Filippo seeks to preserve the wisdom of the old idea of the thermal bath — one that works with nature rather than against it, and which for centuries has been a source of pride for Tuscany and for Italy as a whole. The waters are hyperthermal, rich in sulphur, sulphates, calcium and magnesium.

The forthcoming redevelopment — entrusted to the architect Massimiliano Fuksas — will bring new thermal pools, a fresh Spa & Wellness suite, specialist medical consulting rooms and a restaurant with a panoramic terrace looking out over the Val d'Orcia.

The pool

Outdoor Thermal Pool

The pool — the first thermal pool in the province of Siena — has lost none of its charm over the years. Set in a secluded spot, amid the striking scenery of white limestone and the green scrub of the Fosso Bianco, it is reached from the hotel by a path that crosses steaming thermal brooks.

The broad, gently shelving pool is fed by a cascade of warm thermal water for a restorative natural hydromassage. Open to non-residents too, with parking and a bar.

Treatments & Wellness

The soothing qualities of the sulphurous waters and their sediments make the treatments at the Wellness Centre both natural and quite distinctive — hydromassage in thermal water, exfoliation with thermal sediment, thermal-mud face masks and detoxifying treatments, and massages drawn from both Western and Eastern traditions.

The spa's bright, welcoming rooms look out over the clay hills of the Val d'Orcia. Open to hotel guests and non-residents alike.
